INFORMATION: Original USS Michael Murphy DDG-112 Operation RED WINGS Chiefs Mess Challenge Coin(s) / Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy

This coin is 1 3/4 inches in diameter.  Circa 2011.

The ORIGINAL, first Chief Mess / CPO coin made for the USS Michael Murphy.  There were two different variations made, one with epoxy and one without epoxy. 

1.  First-ever USS Murphy CPO coin made with epoxy on both sides. (Coin pictured on the left side.

2.  First-ever USS Murphy CPO coin made without epoxy on both sides. (Coin pictured on the right side.

3.  What happens in many cases with coin vendors they make an error and make a batch of coins without the epoxy, and a variation is born.
